The components machined by Specialty Bar Products are critical to the success of many avionic applications. Corrosion-resistant titanium, for example, has an excellent strength to weight ratio which makes it valuable not just in igniters, engine bolts, and pistons, but also in the frame and structure of the aircraft. Precision machining titanium can be difficult if performed by inexperienced CNC machine operators. At SBP, however, our operators understand how to machine titanium into superior products that match exact customer specifications.
Aluminum alloys also provide high strengths at low weights and additionally are extremely-corrosion resistant. Specialty Bar Products custom machines aluminum avionic components and often heat treats parts depending on the aluminum alloy grade and the specific purpose of the air or aerospace craft. Inconel®, also a corrosion resistant alloy, has one of the lowest and most predictable thermal expansion coefficients. Able to retain dimensional stability and high strength in elevated temperatures, Inconel® is an excellent choice for aircraft engines.
