Machining
Services for Bushings at
Specialty Bar Products Company
As a national and international supplier of custom machine parts for military use, Specialty Bar Products Company (SBP) commits to meeting customers’ exact specifications and setting remarkable standards for performance in bushings for tracked vehicles. From CNC machining technology and critical non-machining steps such as straightening and stress relieving to state-of-the-art non-destructive testing (NDT) capabilities, Specialty Bar Products houses the equipment and the skill necessary for successful operation of tracked AFVs (armored fighting vehicles) during combat and transport.
part: Bushings for tanks and other tracked military vehicles
materials: alloy steel 4130, alloy steel 5130
Specialty Bar Products machines bushings that are strong yet ductile which makes them resistant to shattering, cracking, and pressure deformation. One material, 4130, is a standard alloy steel containing molybdenum and chromium. Capable of reaching higher tensile strengths, yield strengths, and hardness when water or oil quenched and tempered, alloy steel 4130 provides good machinability and meets military specifications for tracked vehicle components.
5130 is also a standard alloy steel but contains higher levels of chromium. With higher yield, tensile, and impact strengths when oil quenched and tempered, alloy 5130 is another material that meets stringent military specifications for vehicle parts.
Specialty Bar Products in Action:
Machining Bushings for Military Service
Bushings machined for military tanks must meet the correct balance of strength and toughness. Located within the tracks of the tank, bushings bear the weight of the tank as well as the resistance of earth, rocks, and other obstacles. Because the tracks are weak, given the amount of the force they must withstand, the right bushings are essential to keeping tracked AFVs on the go.
Specialty Bar Products has manufactured high quality
bushings for the United States military as well as the militaries
of allied foreign governments. Some of the tracked vehicles that
utilize SBP’s machined components include the M9 Armored
Combat Earthmover, the M551 Sheridan Tank, and the M2A2 and M3A2
Bradley Fighting Vehicles. SBP also supplies bushings of the same
high quality for commercial purposes. For machined bushings that
perform during the most demanding applications, call Specialty
Bar Products Company today.
