Vertical CNC milling centers use tables that move along the X-Y planes. On a table, a workpiece is positioned and can be raised or lowered while a vertical spindle is extended for plunge cuts, milling, fly cutting, precision drilling, boring, etc. Compared to horizontal CNC milling centers, vertical CNC milling machines have a lower processing speed but provide the operator with more control which results in a higher degree of accuracy in the finished parts and components.

Like the vertical CNC milling centers, the horizontal CNC milling machine uses a moveable X-Y table for the workpiece. The cutting tools, which include cylindrical, concave, convex, side and face, single angle, etc. are mounted on a horizontal arbor that runs across the table. The high speed machining capabilities of the horizontal CNC milling center leads to the manufacture of complex, precise parts and components.
SBP’s Manual Milling Machines
Specialty Bar Products Company also maintains manual milling machines. Though the manual milling machines cannot perform all the functions of the CNC milling centers, these manual production mills are capable of producing custom parts or components that meet close tolerances.
