Bar
Grinding is accomplished through centerless grinders and cylindrical
grinding machines. SBP uses grinders to machine steel bars to
exact specifications and, when requested, a high surface finish.
Bar
Sawing and Bar Cutting is performed with SBP’s horizontal
production band saws, vertical band saws, bar shearing machines,
production cold saws, production bandsaws, production diagonal
bandsaws, and lathe type cutoffs.
Electrical
Discharge Machining (EDM) is used for electrically conductive
materials that are difficult to machine by other methods. Specialty
Bar Products has several EDM machines including ram type, horizontal
and vertical, wire EDM, and 5-axis control wire EDM.
Broaching
is used to enlarge a circular hole into a noncircular shape or
to cut splines into a steel bar. Specialty Bar Products maintains
several broaching machines capable of machining workpieces utilizing
25 tons of pressure and a 72” stroke range.
Swaging
is a cold working process performed with intraform equipment.
Specialty Bar Products houses Cincinnati 200 Ton and Cincinnati
300 Ton intraform machines to produce a round outside diameter
up to 3” and any internal symmetrical shape as small as
3/8”.
Forging
applies enormous amounts of pressure to metal. This breaks up
the cast structure, refines the grain’s structure and flow,
and removes areas of low density or porosity, all of which result
in increased strength and soundness. SBP has upset
forging machines which can forge stock as large as 5”
in diameter as well as 100 Ton Bliss OBI Punch Press.
Drilling
is performed by Specialty Bar Products with a variety of drilling
machines, deep hole gun drills, spade drilling and BTA Drilling
machines. SBP houses drilling equipment by Pratt & Whitney,
DeHoff, TechniDrill, and others.
Threading,
including thread rolling and thread cutting, is offered by Specialty
Bar Products to put internal and external threads on workpieces.
